Chelsea enter race to sign 22-year-old Arsenal target
The 22-year-old is reportedly a target for Manchester United and Arsenal. Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months.
Zirkzee has 10 goals and six assists to his name across all competitions this season and he could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for the Blues. Chelsea need to improve their attacking options if they want to compete for major trophies in the coming seasons. Players like Nicolas Jackson have not been able to live up to the expectations since joining the club and they have failed to score goals consistently.
Manchester United and Arsenal could have an advantage
The 22-year-old will be tempted to move to the Premier League and the opportunity to play for big clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal will be hard to turn down. The Blues are currently having a disappointing season by their standards and they are likely to miss out on Champions League qualification.
That could be a major problem for them when they look to try and sign elite young talents at the end of the season. Top players will want to compete in the Champions League and the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal are better placed to secure a top four finish.
Meanwhile, Manchester United need more depth in their attack. Zirkzee could share the goalscoring burden with Rasmus Hojlund at Old Trafford. The Denmark international has hit top form in recent weeks but he needs more support in the attack.
At Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus has not been able to score goals consistently. He has scored just four goals in the Premier League and Arsenal clearly need more quality in the final third. Signing the Dutch attacker could prove to be a wise decision. The 22-year-old would be a long-term acquisition for the three clubs and he has the potential to develop into a reliable Premier League performer. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
