Official: Diego Godín, who announced retirement last year, joins Uruguayan regional league team
Uruguayan regional league team Porongos has officially announced the signing of former Uruguayan national team captain and former players of Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan, Diego Godín, who announced his retirement last summer.

The 38-year-old Godín announced his retirement decision last summer after leaving Sarsfield. However, after six months, the legendary Uruguayan center-back decided to come out of retirement. He has joined a Uruguayan regional league club called Porongos, with the contract extending until December 2024.
Throughout his professional career, Godín has played for clubs such as Uruguayan Nacional, Villarreal, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Cagliari, Atletico Mineiro, and Sarsfield, making 161 appearances for the Uruguayan national team.
