FIFA presents the qualification status for the 2025 Club World Cup in each continent

According to the FIFA official website's update on the qualification status for the Club World Cup in 2025, four clubs - Ulsan Hyundai, Mamelodi Sundowns, Red Bull Salzburg, and Atletico Madrid - are set to compete over the next three weeks for a spot in the tournament. Meanwhile, Barcelona faces a do-or-die situation in their bid for qualification.

In the current UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, which kick off on April 9th, Barcelona must defeat Paris Saint-Germain either by points or by winning the championship to secure their qualification chances. If Barcelona loses, Atletico Madrid will secure qualification through ranking, regardless of their performance against Borussia Dortmund. Similarly, if Arsenal, the only team capable of qualification by winning the Champions League, is eliminated by Bayern Munich, Salzburg will qualify.

In Asia, the winner of the 2023-2024 AFC Champions League earns one spot, with another spot determined by ranking. If Ulsan Hyundai wins one more game, achieves two draws, or advances to the finals, they secure a spot in the 2025 Club World Cup. They will face Yokohama F. Marinos on April 17th and 24th, with the latter needing to win the AFC Champions League for the first time to qualify for the Club World Cup. In the other semi-final, Al Ain hosts four-time AFC Champions League winners Al Hilal, who have already secured qualification for the Club World Cup through their 2021 AFC Champions League victory. If a Saudi club wins the fifth AFC Champions League title, both top-ranked Korean clubs, Ulsan Hyundai and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, will qualify for the Club World Cup. Additionally, if both Al Hilal and Ulsan Hyundai advance to the finals, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors will also secure a spot.

In Africa, the champions of the 2020-2021 and 2022-2023 CAF Champions League, Al Ahly and Wydad Casablanca, have already qualified. This year's champion and one team through ranking will secure qualification, with the latter potentially being Mamelodi Sundowns or Esperance Tunis. If either Mamelodi Sundowns or Esperance Tunis win the title, or if Al Ahly claims a record 12th championship, both clubs will qualify. Mamelodi Sundowns is the most successful club in the South African Premier Soccer League, with 13 domestic league titles. If Esperance Tunis loses in the quarter-finals, they will still qualify.

Mexican and American clubs dominate the competition for the fourth and final CONCACAF berth, with the winner of the 2024 CONCACAF Champions League securing the spot. Inter Miami, where Messi plays, is one of the contenders, and they will face Monterrey, who qualified for the Club World Cup by winning the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League. If Monterrey adds another championship to their five titles, they will secure a spot for the top-ranked team in the association, either the Philadelphia Union or Columbus Crew, with the former having a significant advantage.

The group stage of the 2024 Copa Libertadores begins on April 2nd, with three of South America's six spots still up for grabs. One spot goes to this year's tournament winner, while the other two are determined by ranking. The Copa Libertadores final is set for November 30th in Buenos Aires.
