Intense Criticism Faced by Manchester United Following Poor Performances, Labeled 'One of the Worst Ever'
After an agonizing season and a recent loss to Arsenal, many, including former players, have labeled this season's Manchester United squad as one of the worst in the club's history. Especially after a disappointing defeat to Arsenal, Robbie Savage, ex-midfielder for the Red Devils characterized it bluntly: "This is one of the worst Manchester United sides ever."

The hope of the team standing toe-to-toe with clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City, eventually, ended in frustration as they continued to suffer defeats, marking a dismal campaign year. United's performance against Arsenal merely served as a setback in their rival's title race, a role they failed to deliver.

Doing little to ease the mounting frustration, Manchester United has struck a new low, conceding in 10 successive games across all competitions, a record untouched since October 2021. This evidently highlights the defensive woes plaguing the team, presenting a significant challenge for coach Erik ten Hag.

United, beginning the day at 8th place, 29 points behind Arsenal, saw their 14th defeat of the season, surpassing any other team in the top half of the Premier League table. Their lackluster season includes nine losses at Old Trafford and a frightening figure of 82 goals conceded across all competitions, the worst in the club’s history since the 1970-71 season.

With questions being raised about ten Hag's capabilities, speculation about his future at the club is also starting to arise, especially as his contract ends next year. However, the Dutch coach points to the severe injury problems his side has faced throughout his tenure, likening his situation, "like swimming with your hands on your back."

Despite the grim season, Manchester United is slated to face Manchester City in the upcoming FA Cup final, providing them a chance to salvage some pride from a difficult campaign. But a more robust fighting spirit would be expected if they wish to end the disappointing season on a high against their city rivals.
