According to the Daily Mail, Slot’s assistant at Feyenoord, Hulshoff, has informed the Netherlands national team that he will not be assisting Koeman during the 2024 European Championship. He is expected to join Slot’s team at Liverpool.
Although Slot’s appointment has not yet been confirmed, the Dutchman appears to be close to replacing Klopp as Liverpool’s manager. Reports suggest he might even “take over Klopp’s house in Merseyside.” Hulshoff has announced his resignation from the Dutch national team and seems poised to follow Slot to Liverpool.
The Netherlands Football Association has confirmed that Hulshoff has been replaced by Dwight Lodeweges, who will join Koeman’s coaching staff for the European Championship. The statement read: “66-year-old Lodeweges will immediately join the Dutch national team’s technical staff. Lodeweges will replace Hulshoff, who has informed the KNVB that he will resign as assistant coach. Lodeweges is familiar with the Dutch team. He was Koeman’s assistant when he was first appointed as national coach in March 2018. The Canada-born Lodeweges remained part of the technical staff until the European Championship in 2021.”
Slot’s official confirmation at Liverpool has been delayed due to issues with his team. It is reported that Liverpool can only approve Hulshoff working with Slot at Anfield if he is available by July 1.
