Chelsea Tops Premier League in Agent Fees Spending
As revealed by the Football Association's recent disclosures, Chelsea Football Club has led the Premier League in paying out more than £75m in agents' and intermediaries' fees over the 12-month period ending in February 2024. Overall, Premier League clubs have been collectively responsible for a substantial expenditure of £409.5m.
The figures disclosed might also encompass the transactions conducted by the clubs prior to the beginning of the reporting year in February 2023. In terms of spending, Manchester City (£60.6m) and Manchester United (£34m) trailed behind Chelsea as the second and third highest spenders, respectively. This comes on the back of Chelsea's extravagant transfer and loan fees surpassing £1bn since Todd Boehly's takeover in summer 2022, with the signing of midfielder Moises Caicedo potentially equating to a British record of £115m.

Furthermore, Liverpool (£31.5m), Arsenal (£24.7m), and Aston Villa (£21.1m) all exceeded the £20m mark on agents' fees. Tottenham and Newcastle United followed closely, with agent fees of £19.7m and £18.8m respectively.
Conversely, Luton Town was the most economical top-flight club with an outlay of merely £2m on agent fees. Leeds United (£13.2m), Leicester City (£8.1m), and Southampton (£7.5m)—last season's relegated Premier League clubs—recorded the highest spending among current Championship teams.
Overall, Championship clubs spent a total of £61.3m, vastly overshadowing League One's collective expenditure of £5.1m, led by Derby County who paid out £434,465. League Two, led by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned Wrexham (£347,027), documented a total spending of £2.4m. Notably, only Forest Green Rovers (£266,191) invested more than half of Wrexham's spending among the rival fourth-tier clubs.
