High-profile players, Casemiro and Gabriel Jesus, have been dropped from Brazil's squad for the upcoming Copa America. Brazil, who were runners-up in the previous tournament, aim to reclaim their title this summer in the United States. However, key players will not be participating in the squad announced by Brazil's coach, Dorival Jr.

Manchester United's Casemiro found himself dropped due to recent performances that have attracted widespread criticism. The 32-year-old, who has earned 75 caps for Brazil and even donned the captain's armband against Morocco last year, might not get additional opportunities to represent his country.

Gabriel Jesus also misses a spot in the team following a declining season at Arsenal since his return from injury. Only netting one goal in 2024 so far, Jesus' performance has kept him further down in the line-up. Other notable exclusions include Richarlison, reportedly due to injury concerns, and Man United winger Antony.

Nevertheless, young talents from Arsenal, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes do feature in the squad, in addition to midfielders Bruno Guimaraes and Lucas Paqueta, who are tipped for high-profile summer transfers should they perform well.

The Brazilian squad will kick off their Copa America campaign against Costa Rica on June 25, followed by matches against Paraguay and Colombia. The full squad comprises of goalkeepers Alisson, Bento, and Ederson, along with a blend of experienced and emerging defenders and midfielders.
