Chelsea Considers Maresca, McKenna, and Frank for Pochettino's Successor, Fourth 'Mystery' Contender in the Mix

Chelsea Considers Maresca, McKenna, and Frank for Pochettino's Successor, Fourth 'Mystery' Contender in the Mix
Following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino last Tuesday, Chelsea is exploring multiple potential replacements. The Blues' preliminary shortlist includes Ipswich Town's Kieran McKenna, Leicester City's Enzo Maresca, and Brentford's Thomas Frank, who have all managed their respective teams to Premier League promotions in the past.

Chelsea has reportedly contacted McKenna who led Ipswich Town's promotion from the Championship this season. However, this has sparked competition from Brighton, looking to appoint a successor to Roberto de Zerbi. Manchester United is also said to hold interest in McKenna, whose recruitment would involve an expense exceeding £4m in compensation.

Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca is also a strong contender for the job, having guided Leicester to the Championship title while working as coach under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. Similarly, Thomas Frank is being looked upon for his commendable work in not only leading Brentford to the Premier League but also further solidifying their position in the top flight.

There is an air of intrigue as Chelsea is believed to have a fourth 'mystery' candidate in mind for consideration. While Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness was perceived to be a possibility, recent reports suggest he will stay put in Germany.

Chelsea’s team, not tied to their national games, assembles for the pre-season on July 4, after which they'll proceed on a U.S. tour under new leadership. Last season, the Blues clinched the sixth spot in the Premier League and were also runners-up in the Carabao Cup final.
