Mexican international Hirving Lozano joins MLS newcomers San Diego
San Diego will join MLS in 2025, and the new team is actively recruiting players. The club officially announced the signing of Mexican forward Hirving Lozano, making him the first "Designated Player" in the club's history. He has signed a four-year contract, valid until the end of the 2028 MLS season, with an option for a two-year extension.
San Diego has reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven for the player's transfer, which will officially take place on January 1, 2025. Lozano will remain with PSV Eindhoven for the rest of 2024.
The 28-year-old Lozano joined PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2017, marking his first venture into European football. He transferred to Napoli in the summer of 2019 for a fee of €45 million, and returned to PSV Eindhoven last summer for a transfer fee of €15 million.
